Collection: Picture Ann

Born out of a strong desire to spontaneously craft songs that were capable of evoking a prominent and unshakable sense of yearning for solitude and a sickening feeling of permanent loneliness, Picture Ann was conceived back in 2009 by J.N. and has remained an annoyingly constant and prolific purveyor of deep-seated melancholy ever since. While the first few outputs were inspired by raw and unrefined black metal as well as lo-fi dungeon synth, the sound eventually evolved into a strange mixture of crude post-rock and ambient drone music. Inspired by the Dark Romantic writers of old, postmodern novels and films, urban architecture, desolate nature, and the notion that humans are fallible and prone to self-destruction, Picture Ann paints an intimate portrait of an unpredictable world and all the strange and soul-destroying encounters that make life worth leaving. Who better to soundtrack this metaphorical noose around our collective neck and the angst-ridden vortex that we inhabit than Picture Ann, right?
